It's the story of people searching for identity, love, purpose and meaning amidst the puzzle of being human. It's a Swiss Classic apparently, but it is an odd book.
Not the edition I thought I was paying for, sadly.
I loved Homo Faber. but I did't like this one. Actually I stopped reading after 100 pages or less

It's a classic and Frisch is a master. It's all about options, possibilities, alternate lives ... Not exactly light reading but still a page-turner.
I purchased this book based on a review on NPR and before reading it suggested it as our next bookclub book. Well! It led to a lot of interesting discussions, but only two in the group actually finished reading the book. It is convoluted, and multi-leveled. Not a light read by any means. Having said that, a year later the story stays with me, and I still think about the characters. I'm not sure I fully understand it, but I am glad I read and finished it.
I'm Not Stiller was definitely a very interesting tale. The only real complaint I have about it is that our narrator tends to tell side stories that feel unnecessary to the plot at times. I was expecting the story to be more about whether or not Mr. White is Stiller and where Stiller is, but a vast majority of the plot was spent analyzing this Stiller character.
